Manifesto

color and material

Color and material are not mere tools; they are the essence of perception and emotion. They define shapes, shape space, and awaken the senses. As a product designer, I embrace an approach where color and material are never secondary but fundamental.
Color is a wave, an energy. It structures vision and dictates our relationship with objects. Inspired by Vasarely’s work and optical art, i explore chromatic interactions and perceptual effects that transform surfaces into depth. My goal is to create dynamic visual experiences where color does not merely dress an object but structures it. Materials and textures are integral to the designer’s world. They shape objects, furniture, and spaces that require substance to exist in volume. Each material has its own properties, such as roughness or temperature. It is fascinating to see how these properties can be harnessed to achieve the desired outcome and serve the object being designed. For me, studying them and understanding how they behave according to their intended use is essential to maximizing their potential. This is why it is crucial to consider manufacturing and transformation processes. Each material imposes its own constraints, whether in terms of required labor time or available production methods.
Having worked in various manufacturing environments, I have observed diverse approaches, balancing process optimization and craftsmanship, each offering a unique perspective on materials. I enjoy experimenting with materials and colors: testing, combining, and repurposing them to enhance their use.
All these constraints feed into a process that leads the designer to make choices. Constraints, to me, are a source of creativity—I am creative because of constraints. I advocate for a design where color and material are not mere aesthetic details but powerful design tools.
Today, I have chosen to focus on materials such as wood, metal, ceramics, and textiles, working with each while understanding their strengths and weaknesses.
To create is not just to give form: it is to instill meaning. A successful object is not merely functional, it engages in dialogue with its user, evokes emotion, and offers an experience.

This manifesto is a statement of intent, a starting point to explore further the impact of color and material in our daily lives. My work is part of this ongoing search for balance between technique, sensation, and commitment.
